What

      We DO

Design education, production, representation and understanding has been a topic that has been discussed every period. Along with Cartesian thought, the sense of vision, which is claimed to have a direct relation with reason and reason, has been given superiority; the body has been admitted to be deceiving. This trend is reflected in the quality perception of the space and the understanding of architecture. With this vision-oriented approach, the space has become a volume that can only be seen from the outside & exists within sight; the relationship between subject and space has been weakened. In this context, “Retina! Architecture”, as Juhani Pallasmaa put it, has become very popular. The reason why this approach is criticized by other thinkers is; it is the subject’s experience of the space and the connection he establishes with the space, and ignoring the importance of the bodily memory formed as a result of this bond. The disappearance of the boundaries between
“Subject” and “Object” (“User” and “Space”) is a predicted phenomenon that can occur when the subject touches the space. The transformation of space, as Martin Heidegger put it, from being an object in sight distance to a “Thing” and becoming a part of the subject is a reflection of this phenomenon.

Touching the place; to establish a direct relationship with the space is to integrate with it. Architecture is not only the ability to make the right space setup, but also the ability to design the experience process by removing the boundaries between “Subject” and “Space”. NODE Studio does not see architecture just as designing volumes. It cares about the subject and the experience process, who connect with the space by experiencing the context, the space with all its senses. It tries to make every space unique with its user and user experience.
